Tembusu&Twine

Seasonal flowers, tied loose by hand in a small studio on Yong Siak Street. Order by 1 pm and they arrive today.

A note from the studio

Fewer, better flowers, tied with twine

A florist in an apron arranging stocks and roses into a white enamel jug at a wooden counter, surrounded by buckets of flowers.
Thursday mornings: the second delivery of the week comes in and goes straight into deep, cool water.

We named the studio after the tembusu, the old tree with the creamy, night-scented flowers you smell before you see, and the plain cotton twine we tie every bouquet with.

Our flowers come in twice a week, from growers in Japan, the Netherlands, Kenya and the Cameron Highlands. We buy what is good that week, not what is easy, and we build each bouquet in the hand, in a spiral, so it stands up on its own and keeps its shape in a vase.

The style is loose and garden-like: stems that move, a bit of air between the heads, greenery that looks like it grew there. If something you want isn't at its best, we'll tell you and suggest something that is.

The studio, Yong Siak Street

We'd rather send five perfect ranunculus than thirty tired roses.

Ordering & delivery

Before 1 pm, it goes out today

Every bouquet leaves the studio wrapped, with a water pouch tied in, so it arrives drinking rather than wilting in the back of a car.

Wrapped, watered and ready for the van.

Cut-offs

1 pm

Order by 1 pm, Tuesday to Sunday, and we deliver the same day between 3 pm and 8 pm. Later orders go out the next morning.

The studio is closed on Mondays, so there are no Monday deliveries.

Where we deliver

S$15islandwide

Homes, offices, hospitals and hotel lobbies across Singapore, one flat fee. Collection from the studio is free.

Sentosa or Jurong Island? Tell us in the order and we'll sort out access.

When they arrive

  • Trim the stems. Two centimetres off, at an angle, with a clean knife or scissors.
  • Fresh water every other day. Cool, clean, and only a few centimetres deep for ranunculus.
  • Mind the aircon. Keep them out of direct sun and away from vents blowing on them.
  • Not by the fruit bowl. Ripening fruit makes flowers fade faster.
